Hi Everyone,
Eric and I traveled to Stonington, CT this weekend to celebrate our anniversary! It’s been 3 years since we got married at Saltwater Farm Vineyard and we love going back every year. We could only stay one night because of our one year old, James, but we definitely made the most out of our 24 hour visit.
Stonington is what Coastal Connecticut dreams are made of: a historic town on the water full of New England charm. The Inn at Stonington has been featured in so many periodicals as one of the most romantic inns and I can’t say enough nice things about it. The service is amazing, the complimentary wine & cheese hour was a lovely start to the weekend, and the decor is relaxed, warm & traditional without feeling stuffy. The Inn seems to attract guests that instantly connect over the magic of this place.
Our room had an amazing view overlooking the water. I loved the gas fireplace and oversized bathrooms. The cheery yellow on the walls made the room glow with the warm sunset light. The carved mahogany furniture and American style furniture added traditional luxury and sophistication.
I suggest taking a walking tour the historic borough. It takes you through Main Street which is lined with beautiful architecture and homes dating back to the early 1800’s. Then you turn onto Water street which is filled with cute local shops and restaurants that eventually lead you to Dubois Beach and the Point with breathtaking views.
Eric and I grabbed a Nitro Brew from Social, a local roastery, before heading off on our walking tour.
If you know me, you know how much I am obsessed with blue. I walked into Gallery 121 on Water street and was in total heaven. The artist had done a complete exploration of blue and painted an entire series with that one color.
After our historic walking tour, Eric and I went on a wine tour and visited Saltwater Farm Vineyard of course. I will blog about our wine tour in another post, but I’ll leave you all with a must see and do guide to Stonington below. Happy Travels!
