It seems that almost everyone I know and follow on social media is escaping the cold and heading to some warm beach destination. Eric and I don’t have any trips planned this winter, but I wanted to share one of my favorite projects while I was a designer at ICRAVE.
The 96-room hotel opened up in March 2018 in the Laguna del Condado neighborhood. The recovery progress from Hurricane Maria is still uneven across the island, but the tourism industry is doing its part in helping rebuild Puerto Rico. Without tourism dollars, many business including hotels & restaurants (especially small businesses) cannot afford to rebuild.
The Serafina Restaurant Group operates restaurants all over the world, but this was their first foray into launching a branded hotel. We stuck with a minimalistic palette with hints of oceanic greens & blues for the interiors. The rooms feature gorgeous floor to ceiling glass windows over looking the beach. We knew this was going to be a fun, party destination for those seeking the Serafina experience, so we wanted to make the bar cabinet a special moment in all of the rooms. The headboard continues as lounge seating to give plenty of seating for guests and their guests in the rooms. The artwork is sourced from local artists helping to give the hotel a true sense of place.
I am so proud of this project because it has been featured in Travel + Leisure Magazine, Boutique Design, Interior Design Magazine, Hospitality Design, and Interior + Sources magazine! I hope you all consider it for your next vacation destination. Fairfield, Connecticut is getting hit with a snow storm this weekend so I’ll be dreaming of the Serafina as temperatures drop.
Happy Travels!
