Blue Park Kitchen is an eatery gem within the Financial District in New York City. Situated at 70 Pine Street, the space is a welcomed newcomer to residents and employees alike in the southern-most neighborhood of Manhattan.
The ethos of the fast, heathy eatery is a belief in “in healthful ingredients and responsibly sourced products, while still having fun and indulging every now and then.” This mantra drove the design process— every product and material was thoughtfully selected to stay true to the guiding principle. Responsibly sourced with select moments of luxurious finishings to provide warmth. In some cases, the two principles were found within one item, a true design-win!
The pendant lighting is the perfect example. The Mush-Lume lighting collection “redefines what interior objects are made from and encourages a departure from conventional materials.” Made from mushroom mycelium, the structure encourages sustainability. The material is grown, as opposed to manufactured, with interweaving and binding fibers. 100% degradable when broken in small pieces and left outside. And, on top of that, they’re pretty to look at, too! The stools at the community table were also made of the material.
The color blue was a main element of the design palette. From the millwork to details throughout, blue is the leading lady (beside the owner and Chef, of course.) When we stumbled across a beautiful Kravet textile, designed by a local Fairfield County designer, we knew it would incorporate beautifully into the space. We had them made into lumbar pillows for the windowseat, which gives the area a lovely contrast of texture.
Below is a custom wallpaper we designed in partnership with Left Bank Art. Lining the wall are parks you’ll find in New York City— again a lovely nod to Blue Park Kitchen’s ethos.
The bold signage may just be the most apparent interpretation of their dedication to nourishing and honest food. Natural wood planks creates a border at the bottom, as lines of ivy weave upwards.
The woman behind it all is Chef Kelly Fitzpatrick. A true leader in her industry, it was amazing to work alongside such a talented woman and fellow entrepreneur. What an honor it was have helped her bring her vision for the space to life. Make sure to stop by 70 Pine Street for a delicious lunch and feast for the eyes!
