New things are happening over at On Garden Drive! We have our first employee, Amelia, who will be authoring more frequent blog posts (check back daily for new posts and series!) and she will also be helping Stephanie with interior projects. Her daughter, Eloise, will likely be a frequent visitor to the blog (see her debut below!) Amelia, like Stephanie, studied interior design at Parsons, and moved to Fairfield before the birth of her daughter, who is now 16 months old. Here’s to hoping that James & Eloise can get along just as well as their mom’s seem to do!
We’re also starting a new series here on the blog titled The Weekender, which will be a Monday recap of our adventures over the weekend. We hope you enjoy reading what we’re up to, and if you’re local to Fairfield County this will be a great source for toddler-friendly activities in the area!
First up: A Fall Family trip to Jones Family Farm.
For over 150 years, the Jones family has been working the lands on their farm in Shelton, Connecticut. Today this 400-acre farm offers one of the finest harvest-your-own picking experiences due to the high quality crops and the knowledgeable, friendly farmers and staff. Generation after generation of farm guests visit the farm each year–not only to savor the unbelievable flavor of our delicious strawberries or to find the perfect Christmas tree, but to enjoy time with their family while experiencing the rustic beauty of our farm. Learn more, and plan a trip here.
Every season means something new to experience at the farm— stop by in summer for strawberry picking, or spring for a wine tasting at their winery. My favorite, though, is their fall pumpkin patch (followed closely by their cut your own tree farm…)
The farm has pick your own pumpkins, hayrides, and plenty of fall treats to imbibe in (ie apple cider, doughnuts etc.)
Eloise loved running through the patch and I couldn’t have picked a more perfect pumpkin, myself.
Check back next Monday to see what fun adventures we’ve got up our sleeves— we plan on taking full advantage of all things fall before we see our first snow flurries….
